Why Are We Saving The Day Light?

What is the point of daylight saving?

Moving your watch one hour ahead or one hour back?

WHY?

Why do we need to make the day longer?

The process should have been extinct when electricity was invented!

WTH!!! This is our biggest disagreement Not le7jab, not politics! No its this one! In winter its great!! One hour of sleep!! You do not go to the hospital and its all dark were you feel like sleeping!! And when its summer then you have more sun during the day were you feel like studying! O it really helps during rmethan (when rmethan used to occur in winter that is)

I was wondering too and when I asked the family I use to live with back in the UK, they said it all started in the world war or something like this, they needed to save power and make ppl sleep earlier... and like hasan.b said its one more hour to sleep.
And one of things I love about my laptop that it adjust's it self automatically for the day light save, but sadly my watch has to be done manually :P

contrary to the original concept that we had when electricity was invented we now know that energy is somewhat of a limited resource and its excessive use has negative consequences that manifested in the future.

Its just one of those scientific things that really has not effect other the us adjusting our times..

Sometimes I'm just happy gaining an hour of sleep!

grey
no they work the exact same hours!
exact same time too, just reverse it.
it makes no sense!

Let say most people go to bed at 11pm. And the sun set at 8pm. That means 3 hours high usage of electricity.

But one hour forward and then you will have only 2 hours of high usage.

That means saving power> saving energy> less demand on middle eastern oil.

They can keep the time unchanged by making the summer time is the official time. But in the UK people in the north will be affected badly because they will have a dark morning in the winter.

I'm sure I've confused you, but it's complicated.
