I have been there last summer.
nicest place is Porto, lovely city, people are very friendly. loads and loads of sea food.
BUT the most important thing to do is SHOPPING. It is the cheapest place to get any brand. I think their taxes are low or something.
I got a buberry bag that is worth 900Euros for only 600Euros, and you can get these things from the actual brand stores. no fake stuff.

It is very affordable, but people hardly ever speak ENglish, so you will have to use sign language a lot of time.
