Burst Your Bubble

Moe eshda3wa and a cynical adult sat down for a conversation about Moe's new job offer.

Moe: I don't think I'm gna take it. i know i can do better

Cynical adult: you should take it

eshda3wa: if you don't like it then don't

Moe: I want a certain company I'm waiting on them, i can move up pretty quick, plus I'm taking this course

Cynical adult: you really shouldn't get ahead of yourself and just get a job while you can

eshda3wa: theres nothing wrong with exploring your options, he's still young

Cynical adult : look i have already been through this, you kids have your heads in the clouds thinking your gonna make it big, well let me tell you this, your NOT. Put your feet on the ground and listen to what I tell you.

eshda3wa : geez whatever happened to the sky is your limit

Moe : your saying I shouldn't even try?

Cynical adult: I'm saying you should listen

eshda3wa: I'm saying do whatever you want to do its your life

cynical adult : your gna fall flat on your face !

Moe : why ?! I have a certain goal and I'm trying to reach it

eshda3wa : even if you fall flat, its your choices and your face

cynical adult: with that attitude of yours, your falling flat on your face too

I know life turns people bitter, but man talk about bursting someones bubble!

Sorry to be a party pooper but I have to agree with the cynical adult.. Oh wait that's probably cuz I am one..

Cynical adult says: you should take it.

Well if one REALLY NEEDS (there is a difference between need and want), and one has an offer, then one should take it.

But from the post, it would be safe to assume, that the individual in question doesn't desperately need a job.

There is a possibility that the cynical adult was just trying to be more practical. In the sense, if you have an offer, why are you thinking so much, why don't you just take it.

cynical adult should have worded his responses in a much better fashion. It definitely needs to be toned down.

That said, any person, cynical adult or not, has the right to an opinion (it would be better if it was expressed just as an opinion, as opposed to ... well the way the cynical adult has expressed it).

Give your opinion.. and let the person make the final decision. There is absolutely no need for name calling or making statements like "you will fall flat on your face".

Shit happens.

perhaps the person might actually fall flat on his/her face. - but at least it was his/her own choice.

No one can live ours lives for us. So wouldn't it make more sense, if we got to live it the way we want to?

At least that way, we are the only ones responsible for the times we screw up (and we can't blame anyone else).

I am not saying adults should not give suggestions or advise.. of course they should. and one should listen to their suggestions and give it a serious thought/consideration

But the final decision has to be ours, not theirs.

and further more, suggestions and advise should be just that. There is absolutely no reason to be demeaning or derogatory or discouraging. That is not being an adult, that is just being kiddish. (listen to me and do as I say, if not, then you are an idiot - hell what are you.. sounds like a really pissed off 10 year old kid)

They might have more experience and all that, but that doesn't mean that the younger generation is completely devoid of any intelligence whatsoever.

Just my views.

shall dooo wat ever he wants

January 14, 2008 at 8:02 AM

That is just really funny! I can't believe that this is that person's reaction, must have been fired or something, or had a really bitter job! lol

January 14, 2008 at 8:30 AM

And what if he fall flat on his face! At least he tried and he wont ask himself the "what if's" questions. Life is short and a bitch, so might as well do what he wants to do!

Hehehehe

Cheers!

yeah waiting..waiting for his was6a to confirm, oh eshda3wa pleeeease...having said that, moe should follow his heart when it comes to career life coz waking up in the morning is HARD unless u like the job. cynical adult = keeping it real adult

January 14, 2008 at 10:05 AM

I'm unemployed now because I think the way Moe thinks! :S

January 14, 2008 at 1:40 PM

My brother wasted so many chances waiting for a word from his dream company..

Sadly, that didn't happen!!

Yes, I'm cynical too!!!

January 14, 2008 at 1:48 PM

i hate people who thinks they know the best because they have been there before
ymkn what they say is true bs y3ne what's the point of life if we didn't try to get what we want
7eta lw it's kind of imposible
even if we fal as u say we fall with our choice whathe elmt3h in bieng a life
moe should do wht ever he want
it's his life

January 14, 2008 at 2:09 PM

Its a typical conversation in this culture of ours :)

January 14, 2008 at 5:25 PM

they're both right. moe wants to aim high, which is good. but cynical is keeping realistic, which is also good.

you have to always keep this in mind "hope for the best, but expect the worst". thats the way to win at everything.

January 14, 2008 at 5:44 PM

If he doesn't desperatly need the job he should wait until the other one gives him the decision .. or he can take that job and wait for the others response.
He shouldn't settle for something hes not happy in because he will not be productive therefore he will not go up the ladder quickly.

January 14, 2008 at 8:09 PM

I'm guessing the Cynical adult is the father in this scenario..Even though he's reallyx100 wrongfully negative, he's trying to protect moe person in his/her own way! Just don't get sucked into the same blackhole he's in!

January 14, 2008 at 8:29 PM

Eeeeew i dont like that person!!

January 14, 2008 at 11:05 PM

Adults View :Well unless you get into the water how you suppose to know how cold it is ?
Youth View : But if a person has self confidance that he can do better then why not gamble a bit and wait for the best opportunity ?

January 15, 2008 at 12:24 AM

good luck to moe!!

January 15, 2008 at 12:49 AM

January 15, 2008 at 5:42 AM

I think Moe should take the job AND continue to pursue his goal...hit two birds with one stone...besides if he doesnt take the job...the NAGGING cynical adult will make him give up eventually :(

shloooonaich entay :D

I missed you wallah :**

January 15, 2008 at 8:55 AM

January 16, 2008 at 5:55 AM

cynical adult makes me so sad :[

p.s: i missed you<3 ;*

January 16, 2008 at 6:59 AM

I say Moe shud take the job if needed---and always remember experience is a great thing to get.

And then when his dream job comes along --he can then weigh out his options!

Good Luck :)

January 16, 2008 at 2:05 PM

a lot of adults do that. they dont want their kids to experience failure (or even come close to it) so they discourage them from doing something risky.

January 16, 2008 at 10:03 PM

Everyone gets what comes to them. Tafa2aloo bel khayr tajedooh. Cynical? Pessimistic? Please, life is MUCH bigger than that!

January 17, 2008 at 9:37 AM

Not that I need to be telling people how to run their lives but Moe should hold out for the job he wants. I'm guessing he's young and has his whole life ahead of him. And he's not starving.
But then again I'm a big "fear regret not failure" kinda gal.

January 20, 2008 at 1:04 PM

I am guessing that most of those who commented negatively about the adult are 25 and less??!

Why is it so hard for the new generation to accept any advice? I am not saying you have to obey but show gratitude and say thanks for your concern!

And as they say youth is wasted on the young

"Cynical" Hopeless Poet :P
