Are You A Planner?

I never plan.
I don't like to set dates and dead lines for myself. I'm more of a take one day at a time kind of person. Set goals for a day, and accomplish them. Immediate plans, never too far ahead. For some reason people view my lack of planning as lack of organization. Which is not one and the same, I'm extremely organized. Everything is written down and documented.I never go anywhere without my little notebook. I never overbook myself or mix things up. I just simply don't like to plan too far ahead.

I hate plans because I learned the hard way things don't always go the way you want them to.
But I think I have taken my non planning ways to an extreme, for example, I never book my plane tickets ahead of time, which always leaves me in a frantic search. When traveling i list the places I want to see, but never actually commit by buying tickets and what not.
I hate using the Internet to get my work done, I don't like booking tickets online, shopping online, renting cars, or whatever else. I just prefer talking to an actual person than a machine.

My friends and I want to travel together at the end of our Christmas break sometime in January, we want to go off to an island, somewhere warm, where winter hasn't kicked the sun out.
Nouf is demanding to go to a travel agent ASAP (since i refuse to book online) and plan everything from the Minuit we land, till we take off. Including paying for everything before hand, and its making me queasy. Yes actually physically queasy.
For some reason whenever I plan for something, things never go the way I want them to. Plus I don't like things defined, I like that vagueness, that whole my future is an open field, i can do whatever I want.

My friends all have planned the rest of there life out. By the time they are 25 - 30 and so on. The timeline of their life is so set, so clear I feel there's no room for adventure or imagination!!

Don't mistake my lack of plans as lack of goals. I have goals, lots of them, I just don't set a deadline to them.

Do you want to continue your studies ?
right after your done?
I don't know, let me finish and see where I go from there.

How about you?
Are you a planner?

I don't know I say I want to do this and that but most of the time, the day passes and most of the things never get done.. There are things i plan to do BUT don't ask me when coz I don't know!

I am in a situation called "Organized Chaos"

Also I have multiple plans, so I have an idea of exactly what I want and don't want to do. So if I'm going somewhere or doing something I have multiple options, I don't have to do any of them but I have the options if I want.

But I do like planning things out a bit!

I am the princess of planning! It drives me insane, but I gots to have a plan for everything

I know what you mean, when like we plan something big for the weekend it totally gets doomed, min el "7anna" most times, or is it psychological? I assure you that the most fun I had was in spontaneous events, however you really HAVE to reserve and book tickets before it's too late. planning every minute of your life is sickly

Yeah.. I like to plan ahead things. Just makes my life easier. ohhh and I am more of an online person when it comes to ordering and booking!

1. I pay my phone via the internet
2. I book tickets also online
3. I use to order and its easier for me since I dont have to talk and repeat my order, whereas in 6alabat i have everything written to them in details
4. I also tried for groceries and its not bad
5. I also shop for some stuff online cuz I do find it cheaper than some of the rip offs here

i told my self everytime that i must have a plan but never had one

so i am not a planner

why don`t u like to book for your trip online ???

December 12, 2007 at 10:45 AM

No .. I am not a planner ! I don't do plannings !

December 12, 2007 at 11:27 AM

im a planner to a certain extent, but plans are only there to comfort me, i never follow them...but i like having the feeling that it is planned :)

December 12, 2007 at 11:50 AM

i once invested in a small business ! then built huge castles of plans , then there was a tiny wind and the castle hit the ground , lesson learnt the hard way , now i plan what is tomorrow no further than that ! ...

Well after grduation inshallah you will have to sit w/ yourself and set objectives.
Simply always keep your eyes on your objectives and you should be fine.
Humans generally hate planing, thats natural. Because you are dealing w/ unknowns. I understand the quessy feeling :) been there b4. Give yourself credit, your in dental school, know how much work that is?
Oh, ofcourse you do lol
Bittawfeej inshallah

you seem to document them in ur head...

don't you like adventure? not a perfect planner bs I do plan

December 12, 2007 at 3:05 PM

like you, i place short term plans at times (ie, im gonna go get a burger from mcdonalds for dinner).

but i try not to plan most of the time. i dont like having to do something specific; i prefer the vagueness as you said. sure, you could have a general direction you want to go in, but no real fixed plans. life just doesnt work that way.

December 12, 2007 at 3:19 PM

I think i'm kind of like you but different at the same time.
I consider my self a planner, I like to have everything set out and planned, but not engraved in stone yet.
Although when it comes to traveling, I like to book in advance and know what we are going to do each day, even though it will change, I Just like knowing I have a plan to fall back on.
Everyone is different.

December 12, 2007 at 8:08 PM

Not really, because most of the time "تجري الرياح بما لا تشتهي السفن"

December 12, 2007 at 8:14 PM

i'm a flexible planner. i like to have a vague idea of what i want/need to do next week bas my mood changes on a daily basis! itha ilyowm agool bachir basawi chithee, bachir i9eer mali khilg o lazim ahawin! ya3ni ma7ib atqayad ib maw3id itha agdar aroo7 anytime i want.

I'm a planner who manages to accomplish maybe 40-50% of her to-do list and her appointments!

December 12, 2007 at 10:21 PM

My job is a manager... I'm the one guy who is ALWAYS suppose to plan :)

December 12, 2007 at 11:29 PM

Do you want to continue your studies ?
right after your done?
I don't know, let me finish and see where I go from there.

They never buy this answer when i say it :r

i usually do it day by day cept i dont have the whole note book thing but sometimes i need to write it down, i dont have to keep the paper with me but writing it down makes it easier to remember and leaves it sorta documented if u know what i mean :p

December 13, 2007 at 5:38 AM

I plan in my head, and I plan on paper. Usually the plans in head happen much better and smoother than the plans I have written down!

I turn my plans, into goals, by removing the time constraint. That way, I know I have freedom to move around and know exactly what I want!

December 13, 2007 at 8:26 AM

Btw, when they ask you this question "After your study?" Your simply not answer something like that and sound like you got everything figured out. You don't reaally need to believe it :)

December 13, 2007 at 1:07 PM

I just like doing to- do lists, and ticking things off when i'm done, if i dont get around to doing them, i just throw the paper away :D

btw, can I come with you ? :P

December 13, 2007 at 10:57 PM

Wow, am an extreme planner!

A day plan is in mind, in mobile calender too, I love seeing in the screen that I have this or that, especially the word meeting :P

I use a white board in the back door of my room... I love it, when I do something, I erase it, it lets me love my self more :P Achievement feeling!

I also have a note...
I passion plans ;) cOZ i DO them for me, so for me by me :D

December 14, 2007 at 12:20 AM

In high school: English Major
Go to KU: College of Education (4 and a half years)
Start teaching for 4 years...
Enshalla after 4 years of experience, i'll try to akhale9 my masters and PhD lol

December 14, 2007 at 12:27 AM

I plan alot but most of the times it doesnt work so I just go with the flow...!

December 14, 2007 at 10:02 AM

hehe i don't plan anything at all! is that a bad thing? :p

December 14, 2007 at 1:02 PM

definatly a planner

December 15, 2007 at 3:42 AM

I think achieving big goals in life need some more attention, as far as planning is concerned. I agree with you regarding the mini-items to be done. We basically lack the discipline when it comes to them, which is in my opinion, a bless!

December 15, 2007 at 5:54 PM

I say just have a vague idea of where your headed but dont get specific

December 16, 2007 at 9:53 AM

i tend to plan things but some how things dont go they way i want or i just forgget about them and do the things in mind.

its hard to plan for things that are to far away i mean you can plan for this week or for the up coming 2 or 3 days, but for many years mara 9a3bah.

December 16, 2007 at 12:04 PM

I can't say I'm a planner, but I know what I want and when I want it. Problem is I am disorganized. So, can't really tell. :P

December 16, 2007 at 6:54 PM

I'm an extreme planner! and quite often my plans don't turn out the way i want them to be!

But i still plan :P

December 18, 2007 at 10:01 AM

I don't really plan on anything. You just never know when opportunity comes knocking, destroying the whole plan you had for the next 5 years and changing your life.

December 18, 2007 at 11:30 AM

"I hate plans because I learned the hard way things don't always go the way you want them to."

Same here.

Planning is a B1tch ;P

I took it to the extreme too lai daraja ini sirt shway thay3a :P Bas its all good.
example. In highschool everyone planned what college they're going to, what they're going to be majoring, what they're going to be working , everything planned out min frst year of highschool.
but for me. Dasheit college randomly, I like the fact that i did . im going to major 3ala 7asab my mood when im holdng the paper :P
oo ham i know ill love what i choose wagt'ha.
I never plan my days, i like everything random.
Life feels better that way ;P

December 18, 2007 at 12:35 PM

Planning is no fun!! It takes the spice out of life!! Nope I dont plan a thing- I am a fly by the seat of my pants- kinda gal! :P

December 18, 2007 at 8:39 PM

ana a3eesh kil youm eb youma.... but like you mentioned I also set day-to-day goals. That's how I function best.

I can plan ahead for further days but i know myself. I'm not gonna stick to that. Each day has its own thunder ;)

I'm more of a "to-Do List" person.

December 18, 2007 at 8:44 PM

Like you, I am not a long term planner, but I do make rough plans for the week. However my plans are on a day to day basis and the plans I made for the rest of the week are not concrete, just a sort of guidance and choices

December 21, 2007 at 1:33 PM very good planner ! bs my problem is i dont do them :( bcuz people dont respect my time or my demands !
thats why i need to change my plans from time to time !

chan zeen we have kuwaiti people who respect the time and consider it as sacred thing to live properly
