It's like saying "close the lights" instead of "turn off the lights". Sometimes Arabic can't be translated directly into English or vice versa, bs shinsawee? That's wat our parents get for putting their kids in bilagual skools. ;P

Wait, there's another one too.. a funny one actually. I can't remember.

October 18, 2007 at 2:40 AM

haaa? Mino gal it doesn't exist? it exists!

October 18, 2007 at 7:39 AM

Its our right as kuwaities to make up expressions on the go and incorporate them into our culture, what if it doesn't exist? it makes perfect sense

October 18, 2007 at 7:44 AM

OMG My mom pointed out the same thing! Hehehe athar kilina chithee? Instead of nisaitai 3ana we're supposed to say "nisaiteeh" . Although I think with time people will start to accept things like nisaitay 3anna like they've accepted ay shayy :D

October 18, 2007 at 9:02 AM

I totally agree with hamza and kaos! Who cares if it doesn't exist? This is Kuwait, this is how our language changes. We use words in strange ways from different languages, and we eliminate letters and change their pronunciation as we see fit. Sheno "fe yam3a elyom"?! That's not Arabic.. yam3a? Jam3a? Tajamo3? .. bleh.

Kuwaiti language is ever changing and is based on a lot of meaningless stuff. I wanted to post about this a few days ago, but I can't get enough examples..

October 18, 2007 at 9:04 AM

I have the same question! Kila yegolon lee, "Entay wainich? Long time 3anich."

Tell me when you discover! 3ahsan I add it to my dictionary! :D

October 18, 2007 at 10:10 AM

Maybe it should be nesaiteeha?

Nesaitay 3anha = Forgot about it

heey its ok enshalah u say "esh7alatNi" instead of "esh7alati" that is if you say esh7alati like my cousin :P

October 18, 2007 at 10:56 AM
