Dealing With Free Time
For the first time in my life i have nothing to do.
I leave work and then .... nothing!
I don't have to study, prepare for an exam, get ready for class.
I don't need the 67 calenders I usually have all over the place.
I don't have to run on a strict schedule.
My mind is free, and it feels so WEIRD.
I'm having a hard time adjusting to this feeling. This emptiness.
Its one thing to be on vacation. Even then I'm thinking of when i get back to school.
I'm seriously thinking of acquiring a hobby.
My god, med school never gave me time to do ANYTHING.
And now all this damned free time is messing with my head.
Did anyone else go through this?

careful what you wish for ;) i remember doing articles for a magazine in free time days, i miss those days...
I only have this "blessing" in the weekend. Not every weekend though. I sleep, meditate, watch TV shows, read more from my fav books.

Well kinda, what I do is Watch anime, play games, building a Gundam model, or go to a language class.

I had a time when 1 minute = 1 month !!!
for me i joined a gym, thought of learning a new language :p
try reading novels, connect more with the family :)
I'm currently dealing with the same situation, we have a 3 week vacation between the semesters. I really have nothing to do & it does feel weird to me،،, but I'm sooooo thankful, I wouldn't trade this with studying anytime ..
I don't know how would I spend my last week of holiday, need hobbies, maybe back to sketches !

If you have a job that does not require you to do anything after hours, then get used to it and do not change to one that requires you to do anything after, gives you more time to enjoy life and sushi.
lately I dont have free time.. I am busy busy busy. I dont even have time (sometimes lol) to answer and return my calls/msgs/email
When I have free time I go sit with my family or see friends, or maybe watch a movie... relax..or sit alone to clear my head, maybe go to a spa or so
I tend to be doing more than one thing at at time sometimes

It will take you some time to get used to the change especially if you're not used to living with "nothing". Join classes or do a hobby :)

yep - first 2 months of my MBA was alos the first 2 months of my new job so every day was work then class then study session and i wouldnt come back home before midnight.

i was not used to having free time it was throwing me off balance
Awww Im so jealous =P I want extra free time. Law school is such a torture for me. I just can't wait to graduate. Sweetie maybe you should try to opt for some hobbies, like learn how to dance, art class or something to keep you occupy =)
hmmm actually i finished college only to rest for one week before my master program started.
then it used to be work college college home home work...
then i craved having nothing to do all day... khalaaaaaaas....
Now i resent it if something comes up and takes my empty time away from me...
my favourite is sitting on my couch, drinking coffee and reading a good book, or watching a series, or playing wii :D
yes! hence the 21 extra curricular things i absolutely HAVE to do!

i think all of kuwait went thru this at some point or another, o fee ppl live like this on a daily basis ;p get a hobby, or better yet, get addicted to something like a certain show or whatever

Same problemO over here! :S I seriously have too many free time in my hand, and I don't know what to do then. And when the situation is reversed, these crazy ideas of having fun makes me finish earlier, but for some reason I forget ALL of them when I end and do nothing.
I definitelyyy know how you feel!! It happens to me during summer time, after university closes you look forward to summer time so badly b3dain when it finally arrives the "nothing to do" drives you crazy!!! And I was thinking of starting a hobby too but I didnt know what to do!! Especially here in Kuwait. Things like that are strange, once you want something so badly you get it and then you dont want it any longer!

Yes...after I was done with school.
Here's a bunch of stuff you can do:
Read.
Watch movies. Good ones you haven't seen before. Or good ones that you love to watch again and again.
Paint/Draw.
Exercise or learn yoga/Tai Chi.
Remember the dawra i took that you wanted to attend as well and asked me about? the one where we broke the pencil with our pinky? Its on again from 17th to 19th March, 5 - 8 , at Kuwait university, for 10 kd

I got to that point! That is why I have Anime, Online Tools, Blogging, Riding Motorcycles, TV Shows, Reading, Movies, and Video Games! Keeps me preoccupied!
